Approx. 6:36 AM Cedarville Fire (Station 17) was dispatched to 3000 Block of Cedarville Road. Caller stated the crawl space was on fire and the house was filling with smoke. Ladder 17 responded with a crew of 5 plus the driver and 1711 responded with a crew of 3 plus the driver. While enroute we were advised of a 2nd call stating the husband crawled into the crawl space and extinguished the fire but they had a smoke condition on the 1st floor. Ladder 17 arrived with nothing showing. Upon further investigation the fire was confirmed out but a medium smoke condition was throughout the home. Crews spent a considerable amount of time clearing smoke from the home and monitoring the air quality inside the home. We were assisted by Station 39 (Downe Twp) and Station 16 (Fairton Fire) as well as Lawrence Township EMS. Cedarville Fire also had 5 members standing by at the firehouse. Cause of the fire was determined to be from a torch that was being used to thaw fuel oil lines under the house. No injuries were reported!! Temps were approx. 2 degrees at dispatch.
